In the settlement agreement, AstraZeneca agreed to make$100 millionin a $2.5 million payment to settlethree other cases that resulted in multidistrict litigationthat include allegations that AstraZeneca failed to adequately warn patients and the medical community about the potential risks of Strattera and that its use is associated with serious adverse drug reactions.
This agreement will allow AstraZeneca to continue to make this payment to resolve all ofthose three cases, but will not reduce the total amount to $100 million.
The settlement agreement between AstraZeneca and Eli Lilly & Co. will help ensure that theliabilityof Strattera remains intact in the settlement agreement. Lilly will be responsible forin that amount.
The settlement agreement also contains a $1.8 million milestone payment to the plaintiffs that will be paid after the settlement is completed, and a$1.5 millioncontribution to future medical development in this litigation.
